From Vayalamur Village to Worldwide Recognition

1927

Born on October 1, 1927, and hailing from the tiny Vayalamur village in Vandavasi, our founder D. S. Aiyyelu, with his humble beginnings, went on to set up a costume shop for film stars in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He was renowned to be the personal costumier of yesteryear actress Vyjayanthimala. After years of unparalleled contributions with his costumes for actors and actresses, he passed away on October 22, 2017.

1946

In 1946, retrenchment forced them out of the studio, and then he found employment in Ambedkar's own costume shop. Between 1950 and 1969, he became a personal costumer of Actor Vyjayantimala and accompanied her wherever her performances took place. Once Vyjayanthimala settled down in Madras, he set up his own shop on Kavignar Bharathidasan Road for nearly 40 years; then he shifted his shop to Nandanam.

1996

In 1996, Mr. Sivakumar joined his father, D.S. Aiyyelu, with the goal of globalizing their shop. He employs computer technology to craft customized costumes, earning acclaim through positive reviews in various articles. The shop attracts renowned dancers seeking D.S. Aiyyelu's services. Customers place immense trust in his designs and patterns, gladly sharing their satisfaction. Now, Sivakumar has taken full control, continuing the mission to expand the business globally.

Present Day

D.S.Aiyyelu Dance Costume Designer Pvt. Ltd. is currently leading the industry proudly operating in multiple cities across the world continuing the legacy since 1957.
